PUNE, NOV 12: The Development Board for Rest of Maharashtra would be extending a grant to the tune of Rs 6 crore for the Pune municipal administration’s ambitious Mutha river improvement scheme.

The announcement was made by Board chairman Madhav V Jog while delivering the inaugural address at the two-day national seminar on `Local initiatives for sustainable development, interlinking and sharing for healthy cities’ organised by Pune Municipal Corporation here on Tuesday. The PMC would have to reciprocate the financial commitment from the board by allotting Rs 4 crore for the project, Jog later told mediapersons. The project was vital as the cleaning up of the river would provide reprieve to the Puneites residing along the river banks from the mosquito menace, he said.
