Agriculture Minister and veteran politician Sharad Pawar was on Friday all praise for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who he said is “much more democratic”, respects all views and wants to take everybody along.

Under Singh, the UPA coalition is working well, he said in an interaction with journalists in PTI.

“It ((UPA) is a coalition in which there are so many parties and leaders. His (the prime minister’s) total approach is to take all people into confidence. He always respects the views of all,” the NCP President said.

Recalling that he had worked at the Centre earlier and with other prime ministers even when he was in Maharashtra, Pawar said there has been any occasion when the Prime Minister has interfered in the working of his ministers.

“One speciality about Manmohan Singh is he takes all parties in confidence. He never interferes in any ministry,” he said adding there had never been any occasion when the prime minister had intervened in matters like appointments made in the ministries.

Asked whether the UPA coalition is working well, Pawar said “definitely. The Prime Minister and his working is much more democratic. He encourages full discussions.”
