CUTTACK, April 8: The newly laid pitch with a bit of grass on it and the lush-green outfield at the Barabati Stadium have impressed Alistair Campbell. The Zimbabwean skipper, however, was somewhat apprehensive about the greentop sustaining its presence till the day of the match.

Even otherwise, the India-Zimbabwe contest will be quite lively, says former Test player Ashok Malhotra, who is here to supervise the ground and pitch conditions.

Malhotra, a member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) technical committee (grounds & pitches), was satisfied with the way the pitch was prepared. He said the wicket, though it may assist seamers a little in the early part, is going to be hard and true, and a run feast is definitely on.

It may be recalled that the chairman of the committee, Kapil Dev, took keen interest not only about the pitch, but also about other facilities at the stadium, including toilet facilities for the spectators.
