LONDON, JUNE 27: French ninth seed Mary Pierce is thriving on the grass at Wimbledon 8212; and she8217;s doing it having stopped taking controversial growth hormone Creatine.

Pierce, whose best Wimbledon showing came in 1996, when she reached the quarters, ousted Germany8217;s Elena Wagner 6-3, 6-0 in the third round and now teenage prodigy Jelena Dokic stands in her way before she can once again take a place in the last eight.

The 24-year-old Pierce caused a huge stir at the French Open almost a month ago when she revealed she was taking the amino acid Creatine, which she said she could obtain easily from any American supermarket.

Although the product is not illegal and is freely on sale in many countries, arguments have raged as to whether its use should be banned in professional sport 8212; although its use is not banned.

8220;I used it twice in my career 8212; last year,8221; said Pierce. 8220;The first time I used it for about a week. It8217;s not something that anybody takes every day.8221;

8220;It8217;s like any other supplementthat you would take. It hasn8217;t made a big difference 8212; but it8217;s definitely helped me.8221;

8220;Would I use it again? I8217;d have to talk about that with my trainer,8221; said Pierce.
