CHANDIGARH, January 8: Members of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Public Health Workers’ Union observed a day’s strike today in protest against the "illegal and arbitrary transfer" of employees of the UT Administration to the Corporation.

In a press release, the union office-bearers said that a rally was organised in Sector 39. Meanwhile, the Public Health workers and the Municipal Corporation Mechanical Workers’ Union have threatened to observe a one-day strike on January 21 following the non-acceptance of their demands. The Public Health workers, in a rally held here yesterday, had demanded filling up of the vacant posts amongst the public health staff, regularisation of daily-wagers and grant of medical allowance. The other demands of the employees include confirmation of the field employees and issuance of uniforms to Class III employees.
