CHANDIGARH, Jan 6: Continuing Medical Education on "Obstetric Anaesthesia and Analgesia” will be held on January 9 and 10 by the Chandigarh Branch of Indian Society of Anaesthetists and Department of Anaesthesia, PGI.

Problems and safety of pregnant mothers seeking anaesthesia for any operation and development in the field of painless delivery will be discussed during the two day function. Nearly 200 anaesthetists and obstetricians from the city and nearby states will participate in the CME.

Professor Pramila Chari, Head of department of Anaesthesia and chairperson of CME, said today that for the past few months, the department of anaesthesia had been providing painless labour service to mothers seeking help. "Due to lack of awareness among the pregnant mothers, not many women know that childbirth can be totally comfortable and pain free," stated Professor Chari.
