Aimed at integrating the western region into the national grid for smooth power transmission, the Powergrid Corporation has sought participation from corporate giants like Reliance and Essar for its upcomming Rs 5,000 crore project for modernisation of the regional grid.

‘‘We shall invite bids next month. Various private players including Reliance, Tatas, ABB, Siemens and other multinationals have evinced interest,’’ PGCIL CMD R.P. Singh said. As per the existing norms, the private partner may have stake ranging between 51 to 74 per cent.
