Already upset with the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, Railway officials are particularly irked by a recommendation proposing an end to the practice of attaching government employees with specific officers as residential help. In a strongly worded letter to the Cabinet Secretary, the Federation of Railways Officer Association FROA has slammed the recommendation saying a residential help, designated as telephone attendant and dak khalasi TADK or bungalow peon, is 8220;essentially required8221; by railway officers since the nature of their job, which involves frequent outdoor inspections, doesn8217;t allow them to complete their paper work in office. To underscore its point, the association has gone ahead and said that doing away with the TADK would not be possible 8220;without harming the railway system and damaging it8217;s efficient functioning8221;.
