Four persons charged with forgery and misappropriation of rice intended for Antyodya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries in Senapati district under the Public Distribution System will be produced in the Judicial Magistrate’s court on Monday. The four, including a woman, have been charged with lifting the AAY and BPL rice quota from the main FCS godown in Imphal by forging the signatures of the Deputy Commissioner and the related agent. According to the complaint lodged by the agent, the rice was lifted between April 4-18 by producing forged orders. The agent has also identified the four accused. Meanwhile, Ahmed Ali, a government employee detained under the NSA earlier this year for pilfering several months of AAY rice in Churachandpur district in 2006 and later released on bail, has not yet turned up before the SIT probing the case as per the bail conditions. The SIT instituted to probe the case, is still in the process of collecting evidence, sources said.
