PUNE, July 13: Smrutivan, a forest area developed by plantation of trees in memory of relatives and other persons, is to be developed at three sites in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The project has been contemplated by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation PCMC to encourage people to plant more trees.
The PCMC tree authority, at its meeting held today, identified the sites at Talawade, Sector 26 and at Dighi, for developing the forest areas. Persons can plant a sapling in memory of their relatives at the sites. A sum of Rs 1000 will be charged by the PCMC garden department which will take care of the saplings. The persons would be allowed to place a name plate at the tree in whose memory it has been planted.
