Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyan Khan today threw his weight behind captain Inzamam-ul Haq and coach Bob Woolmer saying there was 8220;no need to press the panic button8221; although the team8217;s performance on its ongoing tour of Australia was 8220;disappointing8221;.

The PCB chief, however, warned the beleaguered team that he might be hard pressed to take drastic measures if it failed to pick up its performance over the coming days. Pakistan have lost the three-Test series 2-0 after losing the first two Tests by huge margins. They were to play the last Test at Sydney from January 2 to 6 followed by a one-day tri-series with the West Indies as the third team.

Shaharyar Khan, known to be a supporter of both Inzamam and Woolmer, said the team8217;s showing and that of the management would be reviewed after the Australian tour.

8220;I would like to ensure continuity in the team and I think Inzamam has done a good job and has the respect of the players,8221; Shaharyar said.

8220;But yes, if the advisory council members unanimously vote for a change I will have to consider it seriously,8221; he said after a meeting of the advisory council in Karachi.

Shaharyar said the council members discussed the performance of the team in detail, including the captaincy, but added that there was no need to press the panic button.

8220;The observation was that although their performance has been disappointing and needs to improve but there is no need to press any panic button at this stage,8221; he said.
