The Mumbai Cricket Association MCA has granted its chief Sharad Pawar the option to head the association for two more terms eight years, subject to winning the elections, after the MCA constitution was amended.
Pawar will finish his second term in March next year. According to the earlier rule, Pawar wouldn8217;t have been eligible to run for the post for a third time.
However, the AGM of the MCA which concluded at the Garware Club House this week approved the amendment, allowing Pawar to stay in the race.
Nevertheless, officials did point out that usually a change in the constitution is discussed in the AGM but for the decision to be ratified, a special general body meeting has to be called. In Pawar8217;s case, however, no such delay was made.
