A hoax caller has robbed the sleep of Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, a JDU MLA and a couple of senior state police officers, including the DGP.

The Lok Janshakti Party LJP leaders on Sunday threatened to launch an agitation and demanded a CBI probe into the death threat calls made to Paswan. The LJP chief himself has brought the matter to the notice of the Union Home Department and asked the state Government to look into the matter.

According to LJP spokesman Sanjay Singh, on July 18 the caller had made several calls on Paswan8217;s mobile and finally when he answered the call the minister was asked about his next visit to Bihar. To this Paswan replied that his programme has not been finalised. The caller reportedly then threatened him by saying 8220;you will be welcomed with bullets when you come to Bihar8221;. The caller added that he was calling from the DGP8217;s office.

LJP MLA and Paswan8217;s brother Pasupati Paras said 8220;the state Government has failed to nab the caller. We will launch an agitation if the caller is not arrested within 15 days.8221;

The LJP leaders have also demanded a CBI probe into the incident pointing out that in the past too Paswan had received such threat calls and his native house in Khagaria district had been attacked. 8220;It is a serious issue. There is threat to the life of our leader and the state Government is taking it lightly8221;, said Singh.

It has been learnt that the same hoax caller has made phone calls and sent SMSes to another politician, JDU MLA Chhedi Paswan, Patna SSP Kundan Krishnan, Gaya SP and the DGP Asish Ranjan Sinha.

The SMS to Krishnan threatened him with dire consequences if the police continued to torture a Maoist leader in Beur jail.
