The National Commission for Women has blamed the Congress and Hindu organisations for politicising the rape and murder of a minor girl, belonging to a scheduled caste community, by a Christian priest last month in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. A special NCW probe team led by Dr Sudha Malaiya said: ‘‘The Hindu organisations made it an issue of Christians versus Hindus and Congress leaders made it a Hindus versus Christians’’. The report does not name any ‘Hindu’ organisation. It blames parties for overlooking human tragedy to make political gains. ‘‘This is unfortunate that the main issue of rape and murder of the minor girl has been marginalised and other issues have been given significance by different groups,’’ the report adds.
