
UT Administration General SF Rodrigues Retd constituted a committee on Monday comprising UT Home Secretary, Finance Secretary and representatives of Confederation of Indian Industries CII, PHDCC and other industrial organisations for the development of infrastructure in the Industrial Area.
The committee will suggest a roadmap to strengthen support structure for the economic growth of the Industrial Area. The committee was constituted during the public hearing session held at the Secretariat.
Rodrigues also emphasised on the need to make provision for a permanent exhibition ground in the Industrial Area, which would be made a part of Industrial Area Development Strategy.
Expressing concern over encroachment on government land, General Rodrigues asked the Home Secretary and the Deputy Commissioner to review the functioning of the committee of the task force assigned with the job of removing encroachments followed with corrective steps wherever necessary.
Rodrigues asked the officials to follow the law and the decisions of the courts from time to time and take appropriate action for removal of encroachments. He also directed officers to remove encroachment on Timber Market and shift furniture business to an appropriate place.
Responding to the various individual grievances and problems of people in the public hearing session, General Rodrigues asked the officers to streamline the functioning in their respective departments so that the common man8217;s problems are solved on the spot. 8220;Help the people within rules and facilitate them to lead a life of dignity and respect. We should always adopt a positive approach for the common good,8221; Rodrigues said.
As part of the programme to empower physically challenged people, General Rodrigues asked the Finance Secretary to chalk out a plan to give them booths or sites to enable them earn their livelihood.
