Walter Pandiani continued his run of scoring in every game this season as Deportivo Coruna returned to the top of the Primera Liga standings with a 5-1 win at home against Atletico Madrid.
After early goals from Fran for Depor and Matias Lequi for Atletico, the home side took control with an Enrique Romero strike, deflected in off Lequi, and Sergio’s long-range belter.
Pandiani fired in from the edge of the box after 57 minutes and a late strike from Lionel Scaloni wrapped up the win.It was a sixth goal in six games for Uruguayan striker Pandiani, who has also scored in each of his side’s Champions League games this term.
“The first half was even, with Atletico playing well,” Deportivo coach Javier Irureta said. “We were on target with our long-range shooting in the second half and that helped make the difference.”
