
SHIMLA, May 26: The State Election Commissioner has notified the election programme for the conduct of by-elections to fill up vacant panchayats seats in the state.
The nomination papers will be filed on June 4, 5 and 6, between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The nomination papers for the vacant seats of panchayat samiti and zila parishad would be filed at a place and in front of the officer appointed by the district election officer for the purpose.
According to the notification, the scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on June 8. June 10 will be the last day for withdrawal and the list of contesting candidates will be finalised on the same day.
The polling will be held on June 21 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The counting would be taken up a day after the close of polls for gram panchayats, up-pradhan and pradhan at gram panchayat headquarters. The counting of votes for panchayat samiti and zila parishad will be held on June 22.
