Even as the debate over the sacking of Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikar Muhammad Chaudhry continues to rage, the most sought after man in Pakistan—Justice Rana Bhagwan Das is in India.

Justice Bhagwan Das, the only Hindu to have held the position of senior judge of the Apex court and the second senior-most judge after Chaudhry , arrived in India on March 3. According to sources he will be here till March 23, and is currently on a visit to Rajasthan.

Following the sacking of Chaudhry by Pakistan President, Justice Das was tipped to be appointed as the next Chief Justice on grounds of his seniority. All eyes are set on him as the Supreme Court is expected to take up some important constitutional questions, including the President keeping the uniform and the next general elections in Pakistan. He is said to have a cordial relation with Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf.
