Saying it with cauliflowers
There are some things in the world that have character enough to be used to express that indefinable of all things -human emotions. Exotic, exquisite and mystic flowers belong to this privileged tribe. No wonder that they have been used by lovers from the by gone eras to express the sentiment of love. Keeping in tune with this spirit, the city youngsters celebrated the flowers day this week with great fervour. Flowers of myriad hues ranging from roses gladioli, carnations, lilies, orchids, tulips and tuberoses could be seen acting as silent agents of unrelenting love between to the oh-so-passionate’ lovers and as a saga of woe’ for the unrequited ones.

But the event which marked the day off, was the unexpected entry of the naive, pristine white cauliflower on the ensuing love scenario. Sounds corny eh, but believe it, the native vegetable flower ruled the roost that day, all thanks to the not -so-affluent lovers who hit upon the novel idea of expressing their sentiments through a cauliflower.

For they were more than sure that a reasonably priced cauliflower could be equally vociferous on their behalf as the meager, single stemmed rose bud, which would also be otherwise expensive on their pockets. It was thus not surprising that the catch line of the day was the bigger and loftier the flower, the deeper the intensity of your sentiment.’ No wonder that some money-crossed lover were heard saying -Sau rose flower ki, to ek Cauliflower ki.

Natural is the word
Mom Spices and Pulses Limited has recently opened their fist franchise outlet in the City which goes by the name of Natural Foods and is based at SCO 67, Sector 20-C.

Harjit Singh, director of the centre, explains the concept behind the launch: in today’s world, almost every food is adulterated including the spices and condiments. At Natural Foods, care has been taken to provide the customer with unpolished pulses and no artificial colours or preservatives are added, thus leaving the natural and authentic flavour intact and the foods products are totally hygienic.

And this becomes imperative in today’s world when even the Indian Armed forces are facing problems due to adulteration of pulses and basic food items. As per DFRL director, S.S. Auger, Indian Armed forces have had problems with adulteration of tur (arhur) dal and kesar dal. Kesar dal has a substance called beta oxylallanium which causes nervous debility and paralysis. Similarly, spices like red chilly are adulterated with brick powder, papaya seeds with black pepper seeds and horse dung is put in dried coriander powder and much more. This has a gradual but harmful affect on the body’s mechanism and immunity system. At Natural Foods, the availability of best quality spices, besan, black chana, spicy pickles etc. is assured. Another special feature is the free grinding facility for turmeric, red chilly and other condiments. Free home service for orders of more than Rs 200 is also available. People who have visited this outlet have appreciated the products and the concept of displaying the prices as well as thefood value of all food items available at the outlet.
