
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 21: The 18th North Zone Indian Orthopaedic Association Conference being held at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, concluded here today. In the Joint Replacement Surgery session, O.N. Nagi, head of orthopaedic department, PGI deliberated on the modifications in total knee arthroplasty, useful for Indian patients in late stages of joint diseases and deformities. While Dr P.S.Maini from New Delhi analysed the total hip arthroplasty on the last day of the conference, S. Frostick from UK discussed his observations on total shoulder replacement.
Dr S.C. Goel from Varanasi, discussed the problem of orthopaedic implant corrosion. Surgeons attending the conference, termed the event as that of a quot;high academic level.quot; Also, the new executive committee of the association for 1999-2000 was formed, with the city8217;s Dr S.S. Gill, as the president. Gill is specially trained in Paediatric orthopaedics at Los Angeles, North America. Dr Dogra of Ludhiana was elected as the vice-president.
