In the midst of its ongoing open world event, Oracle India’s Managing Director Shekhar Dasgupta has resigned after being with the company for over a decade. Dasgupta would be leaving the company at the end of May 2005 to pursue other interests, the company said in a statement issued on the first day of the two-day event that has come to India for the first time and brings together Oracle partners and customers. The appointment of a new Managing Director for Oracle India will be announced in due course, the company said. Dasgupta is expected to join academics. ‘‘I feel that my experience at Oracle will serve me well as I enter the next phase of my career in academia,’’ he said. Dasgupta, who joined Oracle in 1992, has been responsible for leading Oracle India as Country Manager and Managing Director since March 1998. ‘‘I am proud to have been a part of the growth and development of Oracle in India from its very inception. My 12 years at Oracle have been filled with challenge, growth and learnings,’’ he was quoted in a statement.
