At least one Indian was among the five workers killed at a construction site at Dubai airport today. The accident took place at 10.45 am when a section of the reinforcement cage at Terminal 3 collapsed trapping the workers, an official statement said. Twelve others were also injured.

A statement issued by Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi late tonight said the dead Indian worker was identified as Prem Sagar Hans. Efforts are on to obtain address of the next of his kin. The other four deceased are Pakistani nationals, the statement added.

It said 12 Indians were also injured in the incident of whom six are still in two hospitals while the remaining have been discharged. One of the injured Indians identified as Karuppaiah Pandi from Chennai is in Rashid Hospital and requires surgery in the stomach.

Two officers of the Indian Consulate in Dubai visited the hospitals.
