VADODARA, July 7: As part of a unique educational and recreational programme for the destitute children in the city, 100 disabled children from slum areas will be taken on a one-day tour to Sundervan, Ahmedabad, by the Baroda Citizens Council (BCC) on July 11.

Talking to Express Newsline, a BCC worker said, “The group will constitute children aged between five and 16 years from the slum areas where our organisation had conducted non-formal education camps this year.” The tour is aimed at giving the children an opportunity to interact with the various animals at the Sanctuary and also learn about animal behaviour and their characteristics.

While the trip will be sponsored by BCC benefactors, a minimal amount will be charged from the children. “We want them to realise the value of money and come for this trip voluntarily and not because it is a charitable programme.”
