CHANDIGARH, Nov 30: Eight teams are competing in the National North Zone Football Championship (under-21) for the M Dutta Trophy being conducted by Uttar Pradesh Football Association at Varanasi from December 6 to 12. The teams have been divided in two groups. Two teams from each group will move into semi-finals.Group `A' consists of Services, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir are in Group `B'The following are the fixtures:December 6: Haryana vs J & K (B), Punjab vs Delhi (B). X.Dec 14: Winners of group `B' vs runners-up of Group `A'. Y.Dec 15 (final): Winners of X vs Winners of Y.Meanwhile, Brijesh Sreiwal will lead Chandigarh under-21 team, according to Rakesh Bakshi, secretary of the Chandigarh Football Association. Chandigarh play their first match against Himachal Pradesh on December 7.The Team: Vijay Pal, Jasmeet, Rakesh Kumar, Sohan Negi, Jasvir, Harvinder Pal, Jasbir Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Sachin, Amit, Shiv Shambhu, gurminder Singh, Mohan Singh, Jatinder Singh, Devee Bali, Gurpreet Singh Bedi, Munish, Mandeep Singh and Jatin Malhotra.Harjinder Singh and Surinder Singh will accompany the team as coach and manager respectively.Gurdishpal winsGurdishpal Singh of emerged winner in the recently-concluded Centre Revenue Golf Tournament in New Delhi. Mohan Lal from Nasik finished runner-up.In the team even, Gurdishpal Singh, who is also the junior national hockey selector, and CNB Nair were winners while, DS Sra and P S Purthi finished second. Gurdishpal Singh and CNB Nair finished first in the gross section also. Mumbai's Kuldip Singh Sandhu and Iqbaljit Singh were runners-up.The longest drive prize was won by Iqbal Singh and Kuldip Sandhu. The nearest to the pin prize went to Daljit Soingh while special prize was given to Parveen Majajan and Devi Sarohi in the ladies' section. M M Sethi also received a special prize.
