Leading Tamil actors Vijayakant and Kamal Hassan today lashed out at PMK founder S. Ramadoss for launching a movement against English titles for Tamil films.

‘‘Those running a caste-based political party here and claiming that they are the champions of Tamil language, cling to power, aligning with north Indian parties,’’ Vijayakant said.

‘‘For them, the milestones written in Hindi from Tindivanam (Ramadoss’s hometown) to Chennai are not visible,’’ he said while inaugurating a medical camp organised by his fans at suburban Kunrathur. The PMK and the Dalit Panthers of India had announced an agitation against naming Tamil films in English. The actor said he was not scared of entering politics and would do it at the right time.

Meanwhile, veteran actor Kamal Hassan, said he would not change the title of his yet to be released film Mumbai Express. ‘‘I will not yield to pressure,’’ he said at a seminar on media laws, organised by the British Council, here today.
