Domestic violence bill
The bill to protect women from domestic violence was introduced in the Lok Sabha today. The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Bill, 2005, covers even unmarried women who may have shared a household with the accused. Introduced by Minister of State for HRD, Kanti Singh, the bill includes under 8216;8216;domestic violence8217;8217; actual abuse or even threat of abuse. Magistrates can also prevent respondents from entering any place frequented by the aggrieved person, attempting to communicate, isolating assets used by both parties and 8216;8216;causing violence8217;8217; to relatives who protect her from domestic violence.
