No help from Germany, CBI closes HDW case inquiry

The CBI today informed the Delhi High Court that the investigation into the HDW submarine deal kickback case has been closed by it in Germany as authorities in that country have declined to probe the matter any further.

After the refusal of the German authorities to cooperate in the probe, the CBI has decided to close the investigation in Germany, Additional Solicitor General R.N. Trivedi, appearing for CBI, said.

The court, however, directed the CBI to place before it the communication received from Germany. The agency has been probing the case through letters sent by a special court here from Germany and Switzerland. ‘‘We would like to see the letter received by the CBI from the German authorities,’’ the bench said.
