PANCHKULA, April 20: TO cope up with the "load" this summer, the Haryana State Electricity Board will be installing new transformers in all the sectors, besides computerising the electricity complaint centre in Sector 1.This was disclosed by H S Sindher, Executive Engineer, HSEB and in-charge of Panchkula District.
A total of 39 transformers will be installed, the work on which is already under way. The step has been taken to meet the increase in load, especially during summers. Also the electricity complaint centre at Sector 1 power house has been computerised. “This has been done in order to increase efficiency and reduce inconvenience to people. The centre has already been computerised and is under trial. Once we are satisfied, we will make it open to the public,”said Sindher.
Also the HSEB is planning to computerise the billing. Right now, there are 50,000 connection holders, but the bill deposit centres are only two.
Consequently, people generally have to wait for hours in sweltering heat to get their bills deposited.
Reacting to this chronic complaint, Sindher said,“This problem is due to the fact that we are facing acute shortage of staff. Also we had tie-up with the banks earlier, but even these had to be withdrawn. Right now we have no plan to increase the centres, but we definitely have plans of computerising these.”
Denying all complaints of fluctuations leading to damage of electric gadgets, the officer incharge said that the complaint was true generally for those trying to draw more electricity than their load permitted. The HSEB has released 1000 more connections which include those given to Housing Board Colony, Sector 19, Teacher’s Society, Sector 5, and Railway Welfare Sector 4, Mansa Devi Complex.
