NEW DELHI, July 18: New Delhi Heroes registered a 2-0 victory over former champions South India in a group 1 match of the Delhi Soccer Association-SAIL Senior Division Football League Championship match at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium warm-up ground here today.

Today’s victory enabled Heroes to go up in the points table with nine points four matches while Souith India have just a point from three games.

South India lads, combining well through medios from the start of the game, mounted pressure against their opponents and created many inroads but forward Vikramjit could not avail the goal-scoring opportunities that came his way from close. Heroes shot into the lead in the 25th minute of the game through striker Vikram Bhandari who found the target from inside the box with an accurate left-footer. On changing ends, Heroes inside-left Neeraj Bisht scored the second goal in the 46th minute.

All the three scheduled matches of group-IIcould not be played because of the soggy conditions at the Ambedkar Stadium following the rains this morning.
