Netherlands sign off with win

A 103-run stand between Baz Zuiderent and Ryan ten Doeschate and Billy Stelling’s three wickets led the Netherlands to victory over Scotland by eight wickets in the World Cup on Thursday.

After Stelling took 3-4 from four overs to leave Scotland teetering at 15-4, Mark Jonkman and Muhammad Kashif took two wickets each to bowl them out for 136 with more than 13 overs left. Ten Doeschate hit 13 fours and a six to score 70 not out off 68 balls, and Zuiderent hit 43 not out to guide the Netherlands to 140-2 in less than 24 overs and their first win.

Stelling played only when 37-year-old captain Luuk van Troost stood down to deny himself an international farewell, and finished with 4-12 off eight overs.
