February 15: The Indian Express Online Media Limited TIEMOL has renamed its website as expressindia.com. Previously called Net Express, the site registers 2.5 million hits a day and is winner of the Baylink Medal for Excellence and Best of Web 1996 Gold Award.

Positioned as India8217;s homepage, the site offers news updates by the minute. It provides access to the next day8217;s editions of The Indian Express and The Financial Express just after midnight. The site also contains archives of The Indian Express group of publications dating back to 1997. These include Express Computers and Screen.

The site recently did a live coverage of the Screen Videocon awards and is currently covering the India-Pakistan test series quot;ball-by-ballquot;. The website has links to four main sections 8212; news, business, sports and entertainment. The business section provides current information on stock and forex markets.

The content of the website in rich in information and entertainment. It ranges from the matrimonialsection Lifemate and career section Headstart to general interest items like jewellery Zeveraat, lifestyle Bouvelard, and creative writing Graffiti.

TIEOML, a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Indian Express group, is one of the highest revenue earners from the web with gross revenues amounting to Rs 3 crore. Its website has over 100 advertisers including Intel, IBM, Citibank, Shaw Wallace, ICIC, Godrej and Prudential Asia. It has also designed sites for corporations like Ispat, Kingfisher, Videocon, Ceat and the Ambassador group of hotels.

The company said the treasure hunt contest it held to coincide with the relanch of the website attracted tremendous response. The winners of the contest will be announced shortly. They will get free air tickets on Air India to New York.
