The America bred Uberoi siblings — Shikha and Neha — who made their maiden doubles final on the WTA Tour here at the Sunfeast Open last September, will not be seen in action as a team this time round.

The reason being Neha, the younger of the two sisters, will not be a part of the city’s week-long extravaganza starting September 18. In the inaugural edition last year, wild card entrant Neha had a disappointing run in the singles, losing to Sunitha Rao in three gruelling sets in the opening round.

While the players’ list is yet to be released, it is learnt that Shikha Uberoi is set to receive one of the two wild cards. As regards the top names to grace the Tier III event, apart from Swiss great Martina Hingis (ranked 12) and Sania Mirza (44), Croatian Karolina Sprem is the only other Top-50 player in the draw as per the current rankings. Among those who will be making a second trip to the city include Hungarian Melinda Czink (83) who lost a few Indian fans when she ousted the much higher ranked Mirza in three hard—fought sets in the second round last year.
