PATNA, MARCH 23: The NDA on Thursday threatened to launch a mass movement if Chief Minister Rabri Devi refused to resign in the event of the CBI filing a chargesheet against her in the disproportionate assets case and pledged to overthrow the corrupt and undemocratic RJD Government soon.

Senior NDA leaders, while addressing a state level conference of their activists, cautioned the Congress and CPI (M) against commiting `political hara kiri‘ by not supporting the NDA demand for the CM’s resignation.

The meeting addressed by Communication Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, former chief minister Nitish Kumar, BJP vice-president Kailashpati Mishra, BJP state president Nand Kishore Yadav and Opposition leader in the State Assembly S K Modi, firmly resolved to launch a state-wide movement including dharnas, demonstrations and rail roko agitations if their demand was not met.

Nitish Kumar said since Governor V C Pande had already accorded sanction to the CBI prayer to prosecute former chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav in the DA case in which Rabri Devi was made co-accused, she would be left with no no other option but to resign to uphold the traditions.

Launching a vitriolic attack on the Congress and CPI (M) for supporting the Rabri Devi ministry, Kumar and Paswan said people of Bihar would not forgive the two parties for “political mischief”.

Kumar said Congress in its agreement with RJD on sharing power had set the first condition that Rabri Devi would provide a corruption-free administration.

“Can the Congress think of a corruption-free administration when the chief minister is herself facing serious corruption charges in the DA case”, Kumar who bowed out office without seeking a vote on confidence motion asked.

Stating that congress which had a dubious distinction in toppling several governments at the centre would definitely pull the rug from under the feet of RJD ministry, he said NDA leaders would undertake an intensive tour of the state to make aware the masses of the “duplicity” of Congress MLAs who had agreed to support the Rabri Devi Ministry despite having won the elections on anti-Laloo plank.

Kumar defended the governor for inviting the NDA led by him to form the government first after he had submitted a list of 152 supporting MLAs more than the RJD claim in its support.
