NCP man buys mobile phone worth 15 lakh

Pratap Sarnaik, an NCP member from Thane bought the phone for Rs 15.5 lakhs to gift it to his party leader Ajit Pawar.

A diamond studded ‘Motorola K1’ mobile handset, donated by a devotee to Siddhivinayak temple, fetched Rs 15.55 lakh in an auction held in the temple premises.

Pratap Sarnaik, an NCP member from Thane, emerged as the highest bidder and bought the phone for Rs 15, 55,555.

The base price was Rs 3.30 lakh. There were 20 bidders who showed interest in the phone.

Sarnaik has decided to gift the phone to his party leader Ajit Pawar, who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday. The money collected from the auction will be used for various charitable activities run by the temple trust.
