A two-member team of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) will visit the communal-violence hit Adilabad district. The Commission has already sought a report from the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Government on the incident and the communal tension prevailing in Watoli village following clashes between Hindus and Muslims during puja celebrations last week.

“We are going there to investigate the incidents,” NCM member Zoya Hasan told The Indian Express. The other member of the team, which plans to visit the trouble-torn area early next week, is likely to be Dileep Padgaonkar. Sources in the Commission said it is also looking into incidents of communal tension reported from Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, Dhule in Maharashtra, Sirohi in Rajasthan and Darrang and Udalguri districts of Assam. The minority panel is also planning to send a team to Assam where clashes between Bodo tribes and migrant Muslims in the last fortnight has left over 50 dead and thousands of families with women and children in relief camps.
