Mumbai, Feb 12: Nalini Malaya won the girls’ under-12 title beating Neena Sharma 7-5 6-2 in the Khar Gymkhana KP Bathija Open Junior tennis tournament. Saurabh Kohli won the under-16 crown with a 6-4 6-2 win over unseeded Nihal Advani.

Gavryl Fernandes bt Aditya Madkekar 6-0 3-1 conceded, Rishi Behl bt Kunal Bhojwani 2-6 7-5 6-4. U-16 (final): Saurabh Kohli bt Nihal Advani 6-4 6-2.
Girls’ U-16 (semis): Megha Vakharia bt Krushmi Chheda 6-1 6-1, Isha Lakhani bt Medini Sharma 6-2 6-2. U-14 (semis): Kartiki Bhat bt Niddhi Shah 6-2 6-0, Shradha Lodha bt Llizenka Pereira 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-4). U-12 (final): Nalini Malaya bt Neena Sharma 7-5 6-2.

Sun-Grace champs

Sun-grace Mafatlal won the KC Mahindra Invitational cricket tournament by virtue of their first innings lead of 84 over Air-India at MIG, Bandra, on Saturday.

BARC claim title

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) won their maiden title in the Times of India cricket tournament, after taking part for 30 years. They became `F’ Division champions bt beating United India Insurance by seven wickets in the 45-over final at Karnatak Ground on Saturday.
Brief scores: United India Insurance 177 in 42.4 overs (Mangesh Shisani 35) lost to BARC 178-3 in 39.3 overs (Avichal Kapur 89 n.o.) by seven wickets.

Navratna win
Thane-based Navratna Krida Mandal scored a 33-28 win over New Vartak Nagar Sports Club in the Thane District-level kabaddi tournament organised by Mukand Sports Club. In another match, Aatmaram Krida Mandal surprised Vijay Sports Club 25-19.

Karnataka players shine
Karnataka players bagged four medals, including two golds, on the second day of the National taekwondo championship at Thane, on Saturday.

Saby D’Mello, Roshan Kunder, Peter Ochanda, Rajesh Nayak, Soniel Cabral and Rodney Correia netted for Holy Cross. A Rao (2), Richard Noronha, Suresh Bhatt and A Vel scored for RCF Colt.
