HYDERABAD, OCT 7: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who rode his TDP horse back to power on a pro-incumbency wave, today remained non-committal on joining the NDA government at the Centre saying he would firm up a strategy after discussions with party leaders.
`The NDA leaders are in touch with us and we will take a final decision after an internal debate’, Naidu told mediapersons at his residence here.
Parrying further questions on the issue, the TDP supremo said `politics is a dynamic situation and decisions have to be taken accordingly at appropriate time’.
The TDP-BJP combine posted major gains in Lok Sabha elections bagging 13 seats and leading in 21 others out of the total 42 seats in the state.
The strategic alliance between the two parties paid rich dividends as they stormed Congress bastions and trounced several of its veterans including Congress Working Committee member K Vijayabhaskar Reddy (Kurnool), P Shiv Shankar (Tenali) and M Baga Reddy (Medak).
A beaming Naidudescribed the massive mandate for his party as a `positive vote for the performance of his government and its innovative policies and developmental programmes’.
The TDP supremo attributed the resounding success of the alliance, both in Assembly and Lok Sabha polls, to the combination of a pro-establishment mood in favour of his government and goodwill for Prime Minister A B Vajpayee.
The AP verdict has set a new trend in the country signifying people’s faith in `governments that perform with unflinching dedication and commitment’.
