Hyderabad, Feb 7: A 14-member US team led by director of advance programmes Rosen Than had a hectic day here today as state government officials took them round showing a host of institutions and places for inclusion in the itinerary of President Bill Clinton's likely visit next month.The advance team accompanied by three officials from the external affairs ministry arrived here from Goa by a special aircraft for surveying various aspects relating to a possible Presidential visit. The team's assessment plays a role in finalising Clinton's trip to the city.The team split into two after reaching here - while one group went round IT projects, the other considered welfare and education projects. From here, the team will leave for Dhaka tomorrow.Among the places visited by them were Hi-Tec city, the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Satyam Computers, Twins project, the Care India's adopted village Fatehpur in Rangareddy district, an education project in Alur village and a children's home run bythe child and police project (CAP) at Neredmet.The team members maintained a low-profile and refused to speak to the media. "They want to be away from the media glare and termed the visit as pre-preliminary to the expected Presidential visit," a senior state government official said.Though the US delegation did not meet any high-level officials, they discussed various aspects such as security, accommodation and transport facilities middle-level officers and collected bare details.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu hoped that Clinton would visit Hyderabad when he comes to India next month. "I was always confident that he will come. Monday's visit of the US team is an indication that our request is being seriously considered," he told mediapersons.Asked about the importance of Clinton's visit to Andhra Pradesh, Naidu said that the former was coming to the country with a delegation of leading industrialists and the State was keen on attracting investments.Asked about the "race" betweenBangalore and Hyderabad to woo the US President, the Chief Minister said: "Bangalore is also in India, not in Pakistan. The US President is coming to visit four or five places in the country during and we just wish that Hyderabad is one among them."He said that his government's efforts to usher in e-governance and provide better services to citizens had won worldwide acclaim. "Delegations from US and Singapore were here recently and now a team from Switzerland is arriving in the city on February 17 to study the situation here," he said.
