Mystery shrouds IAS officer’s death

Hyderabad, Sept 28: A senior IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, M C Mahapatra, died under suspicious circumstances in Delhi on Saturday. He was 51 and is survived by wife and two daughters.

Mahapatra’s body was found in the premises of Shastry Bhavan which houses Central Government offices. Mahapatra, who belongs to the 1969 batch, was Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Mines. Earlier, he worked in the State Government as Principal Secretary, Energy Department, and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd.
