Autopsy of the body of PWD engineer M K Gupta, who was allegedly killed by a BSP MLA and his accomplices, has established that he was beaten up ‘mercilessly’ and ‘ante-mortem injuries’ caused his death, police said on Thursday."A panel of doctors led by a chief medical officer conducted the post-mortem examination of Gupta's body last night and it has detected serious injuries on his head, chest, abdomen and other parts," SP Kanpur Dehat N Ravindra said. The SP said that the report stated that the engineer was beaten mercilessly resulting in his death. Ravindra refused to comment on reports claiming that Gupta was also administered electric shocks by the assailants.Meanwhile, tension prevailed in some places in rural parts of Kanpur, even as District Magistrate Uday Pratap Singh that said the bandh called by Samajwadi Party to protest the engineer's killing has failed to elicit any major response.
