MUMBAI: Depression claimed two more lives in the city on Friday when a housewife residing at Gamdevi committed suicide along with her three-year-old son by jumping from the terrace of the building. On Friday, a police sub-inspector had shot himself with his revolver allegedly due to depression. The deceased, Poonam Dalal (32) and her son Aman received severe head injuries and were rushed to Nair Hospital. They were declared dead on arrival. The deceased was said to be unhappy with her married life. She went for a walk at 7.30 am along with her son and then went on the terrace from where she jumped.

Lottery agent kidnapped, cop injured

A policeman from Goregaon was seriously injured in an encounter with miscreants who kidnapped a lottery agent and his son at Kandivili on Saturday. The kidnappers decamped with Rs 70,000 from the agent’s shop. Bishwas Namdeo Patil, who got injured in the encounter, received two bullets in his leg and has been admitted to Cooper Hospital. According to police sources, Pankaj Mohanlal Mehta and his son were kidnapped from their house in a blue Maruti Zen and taken to the lottery shop in the morning by five unidentified men. The kidnappers dropped Mehta and his son near Kala Nagar Bandra after their mission. Following Mehta’s complaint, the city police has alerted their mobile network to nab the miscreants.
