
MUMBAI, November 12: The petition challenging censor cuts in the non-English versions of the film Kamasutra will come up for hearing in the Bombay High Court tomorrow.
Meerabai Films, the producers have filed the petition against Central Board of Film Certification. The board had certified the English version. But the board ordered further cuts in the text and visuals in the Hindi and other regional language versions. The petitioners said different texts have different levels of acceptability and maintained that the board has no power to decide on visuals. A visual is the same for all kinds of Indian audiences the petition states. The board claimed it was entitled to carry out further cuts. The case will be heard in Chief Justice Shah’s court tomorrow.
Police games
* The Mumbai police won a general championship for the first time in 15 years after a week-long police games concluded last Saturday in Thane. They won 13 gold medals, 14 silvers, and 38 bronzes. 16 teams from all over the state participated in the event. Said DCP L A-I, Eknath Patil, under whose supervision the Mumbai police played the games, “It was a very tough competition.”
