Tiger mauls youth to death

A twenty-year-old man, Krishnaprasad Sharma, was mauled to death by a tiger at Kailashnagar in Thane on Saturday. Sharma’s parents identified the body. Earlier, they had lodegd a complaint with the Wagle Estate police after Krishnaprasad failed to return from Kailashnagar where he had gone to meet a friend.

Burglars’ gang busted

Kalachowky police busted a gang of burglars and seized electronic goods worth Rs 1 lakh at Lalbaug. Police inspector Rolfie Pereira said two members of the gang were arrested on July 30. Interrogations revealed the name of four other associates who were arrested with 10 car tape recorders, six speakers, a colour TV, six bicycles and three tempo wheel and currency worth Rs one lakh. The gang was active in Mumbai Central. Police are interrogating the arrested to get details of other robberies.
