Mulayam rolls out Rs 1 cr for Gaur home visit

‘‘He is coming to the village after a long wait and we are excited to see the son of soil in his land,’’ said Vimla Devi, who has lined up a menu of bajre ki roti and karela. ‘‘He was the sole bread-winner for our family and now he has been rewarded with the CM’s post after struggling in life for a long period.’’

‘‘The village has been developed in a manner so that it can look like a model,’’ said Pratapgarh DM R.S. Verma, adding: ‘‘The development of the place is a clear indication of the benevolence and larger-than-life perspective of our chief minister, Mulayam Singhji, for whom it does not matter that the village happens to be the native place of his counterpart from a different party.’’

The elders in the village recall Gaur’s father had left for Bhopal to earn a livelihood. Several villagers also count family members among the victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy. Gaur had, after becoming CM, on several occasions tried to make a visit but it was cancelled time and again.
