Kailash Muda, the CPI(M) leader who blew the whistle on the starvation deaths at Amlasole in June this year, has joined the Samajwadi Party.
‘‘Not for a single day did I live in peace after I had told the media about the starvation deaths,’’ said Muda. ‘‘When I said all these things I became an eye-sore for the party. They even threatened to kill me if I opened my mouth,’’ he said on Wednesday.
Eight people died of starvation at Amlasole during May and June this year, but the ruling Left Front in West Bengal said the deaths were due to disease.
‘‘We have no problem,’’ CPI(M) state committee secretary Anil Biswas said on Wednesday, referring to Muda’s decision to join the Samajwadi Party.
