Eleven years ago, ad-man Ramesh Narayan devised a unique New Year give-away for his friends and clients 8212; a personalised calender. quot;I had been an enthusiastic photographer for many years and thought it would be a good idea to make a calender using pictures I8217;d taken all over the world. Soon it became an annual feature and generated an element of anticipation, quot; he says. Now, Narayan takes the next logical step in his photographic journey by exhibiting his works, but for a cause. quot; When a friend suggested that I hold an exhibition of photographs, it didn8217;t make sense to me. After all, there are only two reasons to exhibit an artist8217;s work 8212; money and fame. Both don8217;t apply in my case, quot; he says.
But when he got together with alert-india 8212; a NGO that8217;s actively involved in the field of leprosy 8212; he finally found a purpose. quot;My agency, Canco Advertising, has been associated with Alert for five years, and I8217;m glad that my hobby is going to help a worthy cause, quot; he says.
The 57 photographs on display aredominated by quot;easy-on-the-eyesquot; landscapes. quot;I8217;ve also selected a few experimental shots photographs printed on canvas, which have the clarity of a picture and the texture of a painting, quot; he says.
The works are priced in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000.
