mumbai, November 21: Over a 1,000 residents from Dombivli (East) carrying empty pots took out a morcha to the divisional office of the KDMC protesting non-availability of water.

With a population of over 4.5 lakh, the area has been reeling under a water scarcity for the past two years. The corporation had ignored the residents’ plea despite repeated reminders, claimed Santosh Kene, corporator and president of the District Youth Congress which, along with the Mahila Congress, organised the morcha. Civic officials promised to enhance the water supply, after meeting MIDC officials, from the present 90 million litres per day (MLD) to 110 MLD from March 1998.
