
CHANDIGARH, Feb 23: A demonstration of modern map making techniques, including digitisation, photogrammetric surveys and printing is being organised by the Survey of India at its office premises in Sector 32 from February 24 to February 26 to mark the National Science Day.
Director, North West Circle, Brig K. S. Khatri said that digitisation with the help of computers, by which maps can be retrieved on different scales and themes would be a major attraction apart from an exhibition of maps, satellite imageries and aerial photographs. Certain sections of the department will be open to the public. A video film of surveying techniques will also be screened.
A map-to-ground exercise on bicycles for students of class IX 8211; XI is also scheduled. School principals can send enteries by February 25.
