Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has announced its plans to set up a Special Economic Zone in Jaipur — a move expected to generate investments of over $ two billion (around Rs 10,000 crore).
The zone spanning over 3,000 acres, would be executed by a special purpose vehicle (SPV) called Mahindra World City Jaipur Ltd formed by Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation and Mahindra-Gesco Developers Ltd. The project for setting up the fully-integrated business city in the SEZ format, would help generate 1 lakh jobs, M&M said.
“It has been our constant effort to bring world-class facilities to India. Mahindra World City in Chennai has showcased our abilities to do so. The Jaipur project will offer the northern region a role model in such developments,” M&M Vice-Chairman and MD Anand Mahindra said.
The Mahindra project in Jaipur will be completely packaged with high end infrastructure — 6 lane roads, stable power (a dual-source grid, virtually guaranteeing fail-safe power), unlimited bandwidth and abundant potable water enabling companies to set up operations with ease.
