The Mirzapur administration is painting the town in technicolour for the forthcoming Navratra at the famous Vindhyachal Dham. If the DM of this UP district is to be believed, it’s all for an incident-free darshan of the Devi for the 10-day festival beginning April 2.
So while the priests have been told to wear only saffron clothes, sweepers would be on duty in yellow and barbers would be wearing green. While performing puja, priests cannot wear trousers or shirts. Other municipal employees would have to wear red badges. Sector and zonal magistrates would be seen in black trousers and white shirts, carrying cane sticks.
City DM A. Abhijat said earlier the security staff used to be in plainclothes. Many cases of clashes were reported then. Hence the coloured uniforms.
